4th 180° Thermostat Since FBO/Tune/Whipple???

869 Views 24 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Zar_Trackhawk
4th time my 180° stat has stuck since my FBO/Whipple upgrades. I run straight E85. My builder keeps replacing with the same stat & this keeps happening. Could it be a sensor? Tune?

I am scheduled to put in an F1 stage 2 intercooler in 2 weeks. Will that solve the problem??

Builder can't figure this out & I am lost. HELP PLEASE.

What would cause the mpg to be that bad? I’m on stock tune.
Right foot? Idk man but a thermostat shouldn’t affect fuel consumption.
I got my stock thermostat changed to a 190 thermostat and now my mpg average is 9.3 from 11.3 mpg average. Is this normal?
Did your bad gas mileage start when you changed the thermostat? Or just recently.

When I got the thermostat changed, I reseted the stats around the same time.

Thermostat wouldn't change mpg. If you got exhaust or intake installed, that would do it. I got mine mpg change when I installed aFe intake. More air, More fuel. And ofcourse heavy foot. 🤣

Here is a shot of mine.
So, fan turn on at 208 low, 212 mid, and 218 high. Are these stock #s?

So in actuality, temps would rise higher before you see them drop, say 208 turn on, takes few second, it gets to 212, that it drops slowly. Theoretically saying.

I say this because I have 180 thrmo, but I see #s on dash at 185.
