Drained my catch can today and two little filters fell out and were in the can. Which side so these need to be? Is this an issue?

That is not good. Those pieces help the oil vapor turn into a liquid to drop in the bottom on the can. Without them you are still consuming oil vapor. I'd try contacting the manufacturer of the catch can for a warranty replacement unless they have a better solution.

In the meantime, can a bulk up the sides with say aluminum foil so that it stays in its little recess? Or just remove the filters and run without them?

I shoved it back in there for safe keeping, but won't be driving anyway. After business hours now but will be calling tomorrow. Website mentions lifetime gaurantee. We'll see if they honor.

I was never a big fan of JLT, whatever is dripping gets sucked right into the "out" hose and can is too small. I used too many explicit words in one sentence.
I always bought UPR catch can, it's better separated and it's bigger.
