Another rainy day here in the Bay Area, driving home I see what looks like smoke out the side window. Thought it was rain spray, so I pull over and sure enough, smoke from the engine bay and smell of coolant. Open up the hood and the reservoir is almost empty, coolant all over the engine bay and a puddle on the floor, instantly. Good thing I was a block away from home.

So frustrating as I had the radiator replaced about 2 months ago. Followed shortly by an oil leak from a loose pressure sensor. This looks like something on the pressurized side just gave out. Can't tell exactly where it came from.

Good luck. I'm running an aftermarket cap with higher pressure to solve my coolant leaks. What was the cause of failure of the OEM radiator?

Not sure, they said a small crack near the bottom that was weeping. This for sure looks like something under pressure blew. When I stopped, instantly had like a cup of coolant on the pavement. Got coolant puddles on top of the supercharger and basically everywhere. The temp never got hot, but a few more miles it probably would've

Probably water pump/radiator combination
Ya I am assuming the pump, unless a hose somewhere not obvious gave out. I know people had problems where it does the hard bend up top by the radiator, but that part looked ok. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow, might have to sit for a few days as they are booked but they said they will try to sneak it in.

Frustrating but glad I leaned my lesson from my first srt and I always get the Mopar care, paid for itself many, many times over every time!

I have a very, very low opinion of mopar dealerships. I’d rather pay than deal with those people but let us know what the problem winds up being.

I have for sure had mixed experiences. The one place I take it next to my work is mostly solid, but also had a few less than stellar moments. However i am not anywhere near there so this place is going to have to do

I've been running the Moroso 63320 cap for several years now with no problems spewing coolant anymore.

I got a new call and t stat already, have not put them in though. I could be wrong, but it didn't look like this originated from the cap. There is a lot of coolant all over the place and the reservoir is almost empty. Just looks like a gusher to mev and there was almost no liquid below the cap. Let's see what the dealer says, but my plan is to replace both.

From what I'm told...that mess is expected once the cap or hose is failing...its a mess(heat of the engine)

Could also be a busted water pump I’ve seen that happen to my old hellcat charger
Ya water pumps are notorious for going bad in SRT product. Had one go bad in my '15 srt at like 20k. Seems super common from what over read. Jeep even sent out some letter basically saying they are extending warranty on water pumps for a bunch of grand Cherokee years.

Hopefully it's just the pump because I am still under the power train warranty. If not it's $100 deductable though the Mopar care plus.

Texted the service tech today and he replied that they diagnosed it on Thursday as a leaking heater hose. Said he ordered the part, but doesn't know the ETA or if it is covered under my Max Care.

Get a look at that hose. If it was somehow comprised by road hazard or something similar. Maybe a previous blower belt snapped or something similar. You kinda called it earlier when u said could be a hose I can’t see. Sounds like an easy fix and nothing major. I’ve still got a fuel level sensing issue but we’ve fixed all the other problems lol.
