How many warm up their engines prior to driving? I've understood the typical engine warm-up is no longer needed with newer cars due to technology and the advancement in oils. I let mine idle for around 10-15 seconds prior to putting it in drive and that time increases to around 30 seconds in the winter time. I'd love to know everyone else's thoughts as we move into colder temps.

I don't think any real warm up time is needed before actually engaging Reverse or Drive and starting to move/drive the vehicle (unless we are talking about ridiculously cold temps... well below freezing). 15-30 seconds is plenty. I think the more important factor is allowing the fluid temps to build a little bit before hammering on the throttle.
