Lamborghini Urus and How it Stacks Up to Other High End SUVs

Jalopnik recently wrote a small piece that discusses how the Lamborghini Urus will fit into the high end performance SUV landscape. The Trackhawk isn't mentioned, but I figured that is where we can come into play.

The Urus could possibly come with a hybrid power train, and it may be aiming to be the fastest SUV ever. The Bentayga complicates such a goal.

The Italians promise a lighter body, more speed and extreme styling, but while a hybrid drivetrain could give them a performance advantage over a conventional twin-turbo V8, batteries still weight a lot, not to mention that Porsche will hardly let Lamborghini end up with a better handling SUV within the Group.
How do you think the Jeep Trackhawk will fit into this emerging segment?

Feel like the Lamborghini Urus is going to be more about the luxury feel than performance. Thing about the Jeep Trackhawk is that it's not exactly going to be a luxury SUV but more of a performance one, it will fit this segment more than the Urus, at least until Lamborghini comes out with the specs.

I disagree. The Urus, being a Lamborghini, will definitely put an emphasis on performance. Luxury too. More than Jeep cares about luxury, but I don't think that means it will drop the ball on performance at all.

A Lamborghini not being a Lamborghini is a sure fire way to kill a Lamborghini product.

Fact is, there remains a solid market for high end performance SUV's and Lamborghini knows that, the Urus is their response.
There will be plenty a soccer mom bought one of these by her husband. Definitely a much different style and vibe when dcompared to the Trackhawk.

Indeed, the fact that it's a lamborghini SUV is enough for someone with the income and net worth to justify a $250,000 SUV.
I think Lamborghini will actually see a lot of sales with the Urus. Right now there really isn't much practicality in a Lamborghini purchase. Once you don't have it not being a practical vehicle as an excuse, there will be plenty of people with deep pockets lining up to buy one.

Someone with $250,000 to drop on this has the option to get something else practical for when the time calls.
Looks like the Lamborghini Urus is getting a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. It'll only come in AWD, it's expected to excel off road and it may come in different variations too. Lamborghini is considering a plug-in hybrid and high-performance Superveloce versions for the Urus. Autocar thinks the price will start around $400,000. A lot of money to drop for an SUV but I'm sure there's a market for this.
$400,000?! Wow, that is a crazy price tag. I don't doubt that people will be willing to put down that amount of money.

I'm curious what this engine is packing in terms of horsepower and performance though. Will it be faster than a Hellcat engine or the Bentley?
No idea what the final specs are. Earlier in the year I think it was claimed to have 600hp but I highly doubt that.
A comment for that article suggests that it could have 674hp but I'd rather pay less for the trackhawk for a similar hp.

If you can afford a half-million dollar vehicle, then by all means go for it, it's going be just about the nicest a fast SUV will get for now. Trackhawk will be under 1/2 that.
Both will be very fast, but the spirit of each one is very different. It comes down to whether you like Jeeps more or Lamborghinis. They are very different brands.

LOL or more so what you wallet can handle. $100k vs starting at $250k, more than you can afford pal.

Sure the price is also a big factor. People who have money for a Lambo could still go with the Jeep though depending on their taste.

And how many of those that can afford the Lamborghini do you really think will go for the Jeep instead?

That's a bit of a tough question to answer. How am I supposed to come up with a number?

Many people have enough money to purchase either vehicle. Of those people, some like exotic sportscars, and others like American vehicles and don't care so much for the flash and just want something fast.

Yes, many do have the money to purchase either one but you miss the point, there's a great divide between the two, the point I was trying to get at is there's going to be a SMALL amount of people with Urus money going for the Trackhawk instead.
I see what you mean. It will be interesting to see what the sales are like once both are out on the market.
