I have my order in and waiting for the FCA to call and verify my options. I am going back and forth about getting the full leather interior or not. I currently have a 15 SRT with the leather and nappa seats, and they are very nice. Trying to justify an extra $5 k for the full leather. Im going billet silver with black wheels and black interior. Opinions and pros/cons would be appreciated.

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong either way. Part of it comes down to color. Therefore, it is a bigger debate if you want a black interior, since that can be had in the standard Suede/Nappa interior OR the signature leather interior. I have the saddle color leather in my current '15 Summit, and love it. However, the Sepia Suede/Nappa color was just a bit too "orange" for my liking so that ruled that option out. Once I decided I wanted something different other than the usual black, that meant I had to go for the full leather in Ruby Red. The premium leather interior is nice, since it has leather on a bunch of the areas that are otherwise covered in cheaper plastic on all other Grand Cherokees. However, I don't personally know if I would have spent $5k for the option if I could have had the red color in the standard Suede/Nappa. Also, I do think that the white embroidered "TRACKHAWK" logo on the seats looks better and more distinctive in the base Suede/Nappa interior vs. the embossed, less noticeable logo in the seats of the signature leather interior. Either way, the "supercharged" logo on the doorsills should have been illuminated as the "summit" logo is on my current Jeep.

I went w ruby red and I thought if I did I had to automatically get the upgraded stereo at 2k so the price of the upgraded ruby leather is essentially 7k. I chose full leather as it looked nicer to me online in the videos. But 7k is a lot of change for that. I may be wrong on this and I'm sure others can give feedback on this. If I get a call the only option I am going to get is the tow package that I didn't get and not because I will ever tow with it but for 995 I think it will be better for resale. It was the only option I didn't get besides rear DVD's and 3 season tires as I live in snow country.

I agree with you regarding resale for the tow package. I've got nothing to tow but I simply had to order it since it's the only vehicle of its kind, which has to be a plus for resale purposes. What else comes from the factory with 707 hp and a built in tow package? Rhetorical...Nothing else of course.

The upgraded leather is 7k since you need the optional stereo upgrade which probably isn't worth the money. I actually like the sepia nappa suede leather better than the other choices as well, but even if I preferred the upgrade I couldn't bring myself to pay an extra 7k for it when that is adding about 8% to the overall price of the car. Maybe that 7k is more pallatable if it were on a vehicle twice or three times the cost of a Trackhawk, but it's disproportionate for this vehicle considering its MSRP plus also what you get for the additional 7k, which to me seems like more of a color change than anything else.

While I think the tow package will help with resale, especially at its low cost, I also think the money spent on the leather/stereo package will depreciate very quickly once you drive it off the lot.

I agree completely. The leather/stereo upgrades will not add any value if you ever sell the vehicle. For me, though, I was going to get the better audio system anyway, since the difference is pretty noticeable between the Alpine unit that is standard vs. the Premium HK setup (like I have in my current Summit). However, the tow package is valuable in my opinion even if you don't tow. It includes the full size spare tire (that can be had for $395 I think) and heavy duty engine cooling which are good things to have no matter what. Plus, its pricing seems very reasonable compared to the overpriced leather and audio (which should be $1k to upgrade as it is on the Overland vs. the $2k they gouge TrackHawk and SRT buyers). The tires are interesting. If you live where it is cold, I would stick with the standard tires, since even if you don't use it in a lot of snow, the 3 season tires will be rock hard in the cold. Plus, they are actually the more expensive tire if I am not mistaken, so I don't quite get why FCA makes the 3 seasons an extra-cost option.

707Jeep, I pointed out the tire pricing discrepancy to my dealer who was equally baffled by it. So he asked his FCA rep about it and he was stumped, literally could not explain it - he had no answer for the dealer to provide to me the buyer. My belief is that since this is a high performance vehicle and most of us will want the high performance tires, FCA saw it as an opportunity to pad their bottom line. Cause common sense tells you that the tire package that costs more would obviously be the set that is the 'option', there is no other explanation I can think of that makes any sense.

Yep, you guys are on my wavelength. All I ordered was the no cost "Orange" leather sepia interior and tow package for the heavy duty cooling, spare wheel and tow setup (will use for a bike carrier only) Seemed a good price for $995. So that was my only cost option. I figured the stereo is going to be better than the 2007 escalade I have now anyway. And all the other stuff is not worth the price. Im going to need the extra $$ for fuel as this will be my daily with plans for about 15,000 annual miles :)

I am just a little concerned about the full leather seats being a problem with stretching and accelerated wear like the hellcat chargers and challengers. They have had a lot of issues with them. I hope they have resolved this issue.

Whoa that is bad. I've got a 2010 GC SRT8 and my leather still looks nice and taught on the back area where this image is shown. Sounds like it is more of a Dodge problem than an SRT or Jeep problem.

I have a 15 SRT with the suede/nappa seats and they show no signs of this at all. Glad I went with the same option for the Trackhawk after seeing these posts.

Yeah my 14 JGC SRT is the same. I have full leather in the Charger HC though and I am not a fan. Been wanting to change to the suede/nappa seat covers. But some people dig all leather though.

My Jeep is my "everything car" and i have been very happy with my 14 with suede. It has worn very well. I steered clear from the full leather due to i think the maintenance on the suede is easier, and i dont have to worry about dirt and scratches and stuff as much. I also happen to hit my shoes/boots on the lower door while getting in and out in tight parking spots all the time so figured it would just mess up the leather.

So I had a premium leather black on black for a week until the valve body in the transmission failed. Now they are working on replacing it for me with the other 18’ in their showroom however this one is Napa leather but it’s nice too trackhawk is written in white and I kind of like the suede 2 tone look, more sporty in my opinion but both are really nice

I have the full leather, and I think if I ordered again, I would not. Don't think it's worth the extra $$. And when wearing shorts in the summer for the first few minutes its a tad uncomfortable. Next time I park in the sun for a long time I am putting a towel on the seat first!

I love the look, feel and smell of real leather. I have UV protection film applied to all windows, windshield and sunroof. Reduced inside temps to comfortable and helps protect the leather even in the desert sun.

For me buying options for "resale value" is a loser if you're not going to use it yourself. If you'll never tow yourself you'll spend $1000, get no benefit out of it while you own the vehicle (so you've lost the use of $1000 for 3+ years), and when you sell that option will be depreciated just like the rest of the vehicle (so you'll get < $500 back for it if the next guy wants the option on a private sale, or $0 if you're trading it at the dealer where it will go to auction).

I would disagree if the option is a highly sought after one....

For example, typical resale on JGC without a sunroof is a lot less than those with. Not that anyone is truly willing to pay MORE for the sunroof at resale as much as you have a smaller audience looking at your vehicle as many will immediately filter out and not even look at those without it.

Tow package is the same way. It still is an SUV so the larger audience will be filtering and looking for those with it already included.

In contrast, the rear Blu-ray system is VERY expensive and at resale most buyers will take or leave it so you will never get back much (if any) of that optional cost.

I fear the upgraded interior is similar in that most will take or leave it.

But with all of that said, I don't give much thought about resale when buying a car or picking options... I buy what I know I want for me to be able to enjoy the purchase.

I'm with you. Buy what you want and enjoy it. Life is too short to not enjoy your vehicle 100% so you can possibly get a few $$$ on resale.
