Rotor surfaces are treated by EDP (ElectroDeposititon Process) with Black Paint, so all the internal vanes, corners, crevices are penetrated and coated, unlike plating which can only reach the external surfaces.

With only a few stops the paint in rotor surface where the pad in contact will be removed, while the rest area remains protected by EDP paint (surface or internal vanes). So the rotor will have a nice look w/o undesirable rusty area like OE or others.
