spare tire?

11441 Views 32 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  Harrybeerbelly
like a dummy, i wasn't paying attention to all the options and I guess I didn't buy a spare tire.

In 11yrs with my SRT8 I never needed a spare, so i'm not stressed about it, but i am curious... did everyone else here get a spare tire? if I wanted to pick one up, I'm assuming I can just get a regular old WK2 spare, is that correct?

At first when I ordered my TH I did not add it. Thought about it a little and went back and added it.
Ya, in 40 years of driving a Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler I've never changed a tire roadside; less weight = more speed, besides isn't that what AAA is for?
I ordered it because my luck I would need one when I didn't have one. Of course, I'll remove it at the track.

Mine didn’t come with one ? Dealer told me I had runflats. I’m not buying it so I guess it is what it is
I could be wrong but I thought spare tires automatically came with the Track Hawk if you have the Trailer Tow Package. Even though it still has run flat tires.

Mine did not have the trailer tow package when I purchased the Track Hawk therefore I did not get a spare tire. I did add the Tow Package after purchase but I have not purchased a spare yet.

Mine came with a tow package and spare tire, honestly I was thinking about taking it out and putting a larger sub woofer in.

Not a bad idea. It is quite pointless with run flat tires.

Totally pointless unless you are towing and you lose air in a run flat. Sidewall on run flats not strong enough without air when towing. I believe this is why spare tires do come with Track Hawks that have the Tow Package.
Mine came with a spare tyre but no tow package!

Mine didn't come with a spare either but I would still like to have one. (Compact spare) Checked with the dealer and they "said" they didn't even have a code to order one. Surprised they were smart enough to answer the phone to be honest. :frown2:

Anyone know where to buy one?
Look for a thread about the tow package, pretty sure it has the part # you are looking for.
I have a spare and tow package. Also have runflats. BTW Pirelli has an automatic warranty on all of their run flat tires. If you guys ever have a blowout it is likely covered by Pirelli.

Here is the excerpt from the Pirelli warranty. The entire Pirelli warranty can be found here.

Road Hazard Policy for Run Flat Tires Only
Pirelli Run Flat tires are manufactured with technology that allows limited low-inflation operation in the event of sudden loss of pressure. Pirelli does not recommend the repair of run flat tires and as a result, Pirelli provides road hazard coverage on all Pirelli produced tires that are manufactured with run flat technology. To qualify for Run Flat Road Hazard coverage, a completed claim form along with the tire exhibiting the road hazard must be returned to Pirelli through an authorized Pirelli dealer.
If a Run Flat tire becomes unserviceable due to workmanship or materials anomalies or road hazard injury during the initial warranty period, which is one year from the date of original retail purchase of the vehicle or purchase of replacement tires (purchase receipt required) or within the first 2/32” of the original usable tread, whichever occurs first, the tire will be replaced with the same or comparable tire at no charge for the tire to the owner. After the initial warranty period, if a Run Flat tire becomes unserviceable due to workmanship or materials anomalies or road hazard injury, the owner must pay the cost of a comparable new Pirelli replacement tire on a pro-rata basis. The authorized Pirelli dealer will determine the cost by multiplying the percentage of the original usable tread worn by the current dealer selling price. The owner must pay for any associated service charges, including costs associated with mounting and balancing of the tire. This Road Hazard Policy is not a warranty. Pirelli does not warranty that a Pirelli tire will not fail due to road hazard and does not authorize any person, including authorized Pirelli dealers, to make such a warranty.

I was a dummy like you. I got home and lifted the floor to find no spare. I was planning to call the dealer but that night I read posts on tow packages and they talked about spares in that post as an option. They don’t come with the runflat equipped THs. If you get a flat you can drive it to an authorized shop/dealer.

Another heads up is this Wave club. I was about to throw that junk mail away but glad I didn’t. Turns out the Wave club gets you two free oil changes and two free tire rotations per year for the first two years. And I was about to trash that welcome mail. ..

Same here.

Interesting. The tow package, as many have said, include the compact spare tire. If you didn’t order the tow package, you had the option to order a compact spare.

I didn’t order the tow package nor the compact spare option. I have a regular spare under my rear deck.
I hear that if you didn’t get the tow package, some still showed up with a spare. Some also came with the wire harness. Not sure why some did but supposedly, no tow package, no spare of any kind.
