Where did you hear this about the fuel filter? I haven’t seen anything from anyone saying the fuel filter is not E85 compatible. I did a quick google and didn’t find anything there. Is this coming from the same people telling you that you need to upgrade the fuel pump?

Hey Lil Hemi, my assumption came from this web site. But not knowing if we have cellulose fuel filters o our Mopars, I thought it would be worth doing.

Ok because earlier you said you know it has to be changed. I came across that same article while I was looking for any supporting documentation. I think you might want to research more because everything I went through about hellcats and E85 didn’t say anything about fuel filter issues. Livernois makes a pump upgrade for the challenger and I found several posts about that but nothing suggesting there are any issues running E85 in our stock fuel system.

I'm not sure what size the stock fuel lines are, but -6 AN fuel lines are plenty to support WELL over 1000 whp on e85. I went overkill on my other car with -10 feed and -8 return before I knew this and those huge lines were a pain to run up to the tank with the limited space on that car. At least I'm setup to support over 2000 whp on e85 though. LOL
Yea i went with 10 on the hawk.... Its what the shop had used for a hellcat that they put a magnuson 2650 on as well. Deff not an easy time running the fuel line...

Yeah, it can’t hurt. I’m just trying to be careful about the information we spread on here. Did you find out what type of fuel filter TH comes with?

I agree and should have checked out more thoroughly but think my logic is correct. No I have not been able to determine the composition of our fuel filter for the Hellcat. I am also trying to determine the exchange ability of components between the Hellcat and Demon/Redeye to determine if fuel supply components can be used in the Hellcat. Going to need VIN numbers of a Demon ad Redeye to call dealers about certain parts.

I read that ID article and it sounds like the SS filters they tested weren’t even close to performing at their rating. That’s scary.

Yes, very surprising results for some of the filters. Looks like their filter is good based on the ifo provided but wish they would have included in the comparative study they performed. Their filter has features for filter replacement I like. Are you using the oem filter for your build with E85?

FuelLab filters is what I have on my other e85 car and they use removable and cleanable metal filters. After leaving the car set for a while with e85 in the tank and lines (stupid mistake), I pulled the filter element out and it had the notorious sludge. All I had to do was use some brake cleaner and spray it good and clean and put it back in.

What do you mean by a "little while" when you state "After leaving the car set for a while with e85 in the tank and lines"? Days. weeks. months?

About 6 months worth of winter sitting. E85 will build up a sludge (looks like clear/yellowish boogers) over time on the injectors and filter even when being used all the time. You must run a tank of gas through the system every few weeks or so to clean things. Leave e85 sit for a long time and that sludge will build up in the tank, filters and other areas. It is a known issue with running it.

I use Marvel Mystery Oil in every tank of E85 it dissipates the water. I use 4oz. the water is what causes the issues from what I am told at least.
change oil sooner also. there was a thread on this awhile back but no one really chimed in maybe we just dont know enough yet? My builder has been doing this a long time and he told me about the water specially in long term storage.

Yeah, since you mention oil...… Definitely make sure you are using a good oil with a high TBN and detergents and change it out no more than 2-3k miles. I have been using Amsoil for years with great results and never saw a bad oil analysis. Their oils are superior IMO.
